Treasure Bound

Nearly every year and sometimes twice a year, I like to create a treasure hunt for kids. I find it incredibly rewarding and love exploring with new ways of storytelling using advances in AI, AR, manufacturing (yes, manufacturing) and marketplaces.

This year, was the year of Dall-e, ChatGPT and MidJourney. Check it the video ‘trailer’ for the treasure hunt below. The story, voice and art are all AI generated.

Here’s a summary of the experience as written by ChatGPT.
"Treasure Bound" is an immersive treasure hunt adventure designed for kids. The experience begins with a mysterious invitation mailed to participants, including a decoding coin and a hidden message, alongside a printed comic book with the backstory.

On the event day, participants are initiated into the Treasure Bound Crew, receiving a red bandanna and a unique temporary tattoo, signifying their roles as treasure hunters. A ceremony sets the stage, outlining the rules and spirit of the hunt, with dramatic pirate music in the background.

The main activity involves searching for hidden wooden sailboats. When a sailboat is found, the finder shouts "Sail Ho!" drawing others to discover doubloons and a bottled riddle near the boat. These riddles lead them to three wooden stars that are needed to open the treasure chest.

Once all three sailboats and stars are found, they unlock a treasure chest. Inside, the kids find goodie bags. The collected doubloons are distributed evenly among participants by the quartermaster, ensuring a shared and equitable treasure for all.

This experience combines elements of teamwork, problem-solving, and adventure, creating a memorable and engaging activity for children, instilling the values of sharing and cooperation.
